March 19, 2012 Not a Little Boy

When Luke was a little guy (it's been awhile since I could describe him that way), he would fly to Florida to see his dad.  When I would put him on the plane, I remember always offering a prayer that the pilot would be a good guy, who was not hung over or mad at his wife.  Maybe he'd have kids of his own and took extra care when there were children on his airplane.

Luke always arrived safely - both going and coming.  He loved flying; still does, even though he doesn't get a chance to fly very often.

The last few weeks have been tough for Luke.  Lots of tests and assignments.  He's never gone on a Spring Break trip of any kind.  Not in high school, not in college.  We agreed that it was high time!  High time for him to hop on a plane and go on an adventure.

Today, Luke headed for San Antonio to spend the week with my "brother" and his wife and daughter.  It's a well earned, well deserved vacation.  Luke didn't take any books, although he did take his computer so  he could "practice" his programming!

Even though my son is a man and no longer a little boy travelling on his own, I still kept my fingers crossed for a pilot who was not hung over.
