March 18, 2012 Old Dog. New Tricks. Not Buddy.

Momma and Sissy (i.e. my mom and sister) are seamstresses of the highest order.  Both of my grandmother's were gifted in that way as well.  But, sad to say, my sewing skills are pretty limited to buttons.  Usually losing them as opposed to actually sewing them on!

Several weeks ago, Momma and Sissy went to a class called "Quilt in a Day" and they made a couple of beautiful quilts.  In a day!  The only sewing was straight seams on material that was pre-cut.  Sounds easy, right?

It sounded so easy that I let Momma and Sissy talk me into trying my hand at quilt making while I am recovering from my surgery.  I picked these colors and think they will brighten my life as I sew all the strips together and then curl up underneath the complete quilt.

Don't you agree that you can't have too many bright colors in your life?

Stay tuned for photos of the quilt in progress - some time after April 10.  Here's what I'm thinking:  I'll sew about 2 strips together (that's 2 1/2 inches  per strip) then I'll say something like "I'm just so tired" or "Pushing this pedal hurts my knee" or "Can you help me please?" or "I need a beer".  Momma and Sissy will tell me to scoot over and BOOM! in a few hours the quilt will be done and some how, I'll still get credit for it.
